Song Zhong Dancong
宋種單叢
During the late Southern Song Dynasty, Emperor Zhao Bing fled to Chaozhou and, while passing through Wudong, experienced severe thirst. His attendants picked fresh tea leaves for him to chew, which helped refresh and rehydrate him. In gratitude, he named the tea tree “Song Tea,” and its cultivation continued through generations. This Song Zhong Dancong comes from 60-year-old trees growing at 950m altitude, contributing to its rich and long-lasting flavour profile.
The Story of Phoenix Dancong
Phoenix Dancong has a history of over 900 years, dating back to the Song Dynasty. By the 16th century, it was recognized as an imperial tribute tea and refined through careful processing. This led to the practice of single-bush production, where each tea is made from a single tea bush to retain its unique cultivar characteristics. This tradition solidified Phoenix Dancong’s reputation for exceptional craftsmanship and heritage.
