This 12-hour hybrid course (combining online and in-person learning) provides the essential knowledge and skills to begin your journey toward becoming a Chinese Tea Master.
Delivered over four sessions, the course explores the origins and history of tea, the six major tea categories, and their processing and brewing techniques to optimize flavor and aroma. You will also gain a solid foundation in Chinese tea etiquette and philosophy, guided tea tasting and appreciation, and hands-on practices for the art of brewing with traditional Chinese teaware.
You will learn:
- The scientific classification of tea
- Classification and processing methods of the six major tea categories
- Historical development of tea from the Tang and Song dynasties to the present
- Core concepts in Chinese tea culture and philosophy
- Principles of tea storage and water selection
- Standards and responsibilities of a Chinese Tea Master
Sessions are structured in an integrated approach, which combines theories, tea tasting and practical application, to support you in building the core competencies and confidence needed to advance in Chinese tea studies and professional practice.

- 3 months access to brewing guidance videos
This course also prepares students for the certification examination administered by the International Tea Culture Exchange Association (TCI). Examination fees are not included and are registered separately*.

Please ensure that all registration information is accurate prior to booking.
*Elementary Tea Master Certification Examination with TCI: To obtain the certification, participants must pass both the written and practical components of the exam, which is available quarterly. An examination fee of USD150 applies. Successful candidates will be awarded the Elementary Tea Master Certification, issued by the International Tea Culture Exchange Association.
After the course has commenced, only the registered participant may attend. Attendance by substitutes is not permitted.
Photography, videography, and audio recording may take place during classes and related activities for purposes including, but not limited to, internal review, promotional materials, and documentation. If you do not consent to being recorded, please notify staff at the start of the course.
